Why God allows pain - A Lesson I'm Learning.

Pain is something we all try to avoid, yet it often finds its way into our lives—sometimes unexpectedly, other times in ways that feel unbearable. In moments of heartbreak, disappointment, or loneliness, it's easy to ask, "God, why are You allowing this?" This blog is not written from a place of having all the answers, but rather from a space of learning—learning to trust God's purpose even when I can't understand His process.

Biblical Perspective;

Throughout the Bible, we see that pain is not meaningless. In fact, some of the greatest spiritual growth in Scripture happened through trials.

Job lost everything—family, health, wealth—and yet God was not absent. Job 23:10 says, "But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold."

Paul endured prison, beatings, and constant hardships, yet wrote in Romans 8:18, "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."

Even Jesus, the Son of God, endured deep pain. Isaiah 53:5 reminds us, "He was pierced for our transgressions... and by his wounds we are healed."

These scriptures don’t deny the pain but highlight how God uses it—often as a refining fire, a path to deeper faith, or a way to fulfill His greater purposes.

Personal Reflection;

There have been moments in my life when I’ve cried out to God asking “Why me?” I’ve experienced emotional pain—through rejection, unmet expectations, and inner struggles that no one else knew about. During those times, I questioned God’s love and timing.

But slowly, I began to realize that pain has a way of pulling me closer to God, not away. When everything else was stripped away, I found His presence more clearly. It’s in the silence of pain that I’ve heard His voice the loudest. He didn’t always give explanations, but He gave comfort. He didn’t remove the storm immediately, but He gave me peace in the middle of it.

Pain taught me empathy, deepened my dependence on God, and reminded me that my identity is not in my circumstances but in Christ.

If you're going through pain right now, please know that you’re not alone—and more importantly, God has not abandoned you. He sees your tears, hears your prayers, and walks with you through every valley.

Here are three things I’ve learned that might encourage you:

1. God is still good, even when life is not.

2. Your pain has a purpose—it can build you, mold you, and prepare you for what’s ahead.

3. It’s okay to not have it all together. Lean on God. He is your strength when you have none.

Romans 5:3-4 says, "We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."

Pain is not the end of the story. It may be a chapter, but not the whole book. As I continue learning this lesson, I’m reminded daily that God can use even the most broken parts of our lives to write a beautiful testimony.

So if you’re hurting, take heart. You are being shaped, not shattered. And through the pain, God is still writing your story—one that will speak of His grace, His healing, and His glory.
